What is a Lutheran?

LUTHERANS BELIEVE:

 
    * We are saved by the grace of God alone -- not by anything we do;
  * Our salvation is through faith alone -- a confident trust in God, who in Christ promises us forgiveness, life and salvation;
  * The Bible is the norm for faith and life -- the true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.
   
THE BIBLE

ELCA Lutherans believe the Bible is the written Word of God. It creates and nurtures faith through the work of the Holy Spirit and points us to Jesus Christ, the living Word and center of our faith.

SACRAMENTS

We lift up two Sacraments (Sacrament = visible sign of the invisible reality of God's love and forgiveness) as means for penetrating lives with God's grace. Though not the only means of God's self-revelation, Baptism and the Holy Meal are visible acts of God's love.
